MELANKOLIA is an alternative band from the city of Oulu in the north of Finland. Four guys grew up together, but life separated their paths. After 10 years, at the end of 2024, they reunited not only as friends, but also as a band.

The music of MELANKOLIA combines heavy and dynamic sound with melancholic melodies and very deep lyrics. Their songs talk about the hardest moments in life — loss, pain, changes, and the weight of words that were never said.
I discovered the band in spring 2025, right when their first single Blue was about to be released. The snippet caught my attention immediately, just like the full track later. With every new release the guys surprised me with their sound, emotions, and atmosphere in their music. Because of that, the band quickly became one of my favorites and also my personal discovery of 2025.
With every listen I feel how MELANKOLIA’s songs go deeper into my soul, run through my veins very fast, and finally stay inside me forever. But the lyrics… honestly, I am amazed by how deeply they describe human feelings and emotions. Even I, who has never experienced things like this, can still understand them a little and feel them inside. The lyrics are very beautiful, but at the same time they bring pain. This combination always surprises me, because songs like this can make you feel the most real emotions.
On March 6 the band released their debut EP called Step 1: I admit I’m a melancholic with two new tracks that I liked from the first listen, just like almost all the singles that were released before.
The sound of the EP is very diverse: you can hear purely electronic parts and also metalcore elements, and they work very well together. This shows that the band is not limited by any genre rules and creates music from the heart.
