On 19 February, the Finnish rock band HOKKA released their third single, Heart Said No. It’s a very emotional, beautiful, and dark song. It is full of pain inside.
The song starts strong and melodic, and it stays in your heart. Heavy guitar and piano make a magic sound. The melody fills the room and gives a special sad feeling. Joel Hokka’s voice is quiet and soft in the verses, but you can hear all the hidden feelings.
The loud chorus takes you to another world. Even if you never felt what he sings about, the emotions still hurt inside. Joel shows his feelings very clearly.
My favourite part is the climax. The feelings are pure and strong, and I get goosebumps every time. I want to sing with Joel, let out my pain, and feel free. At the end, his voice breaks and we hear tears.
“Big boys don’t cry — except when writing songs like this. Heart Said No was the first song I ever wrote with tears in my eyes — and I wasn’t the only one in the band. The song is a raw and authentic deep dive into self-reflection, shaped by minds steeped in melancholy. We’re incredibly proud to announce that our first album, Via Miseria IV, will be released on April 24th.” — comments Joel.
here is also a music video. It is a perfect visual for the music. The sky is grey, the colours are dark, and there are small flashes of light. It feels lonely and shows inner fight. Joel wears a long red coat and has a scar on his face. He plays the piano. He is not just singing; he is sharing what was inside his soul for years. That is very special. I can watch the video again and again.

The cover art is a painting. Joel painted it with acrylic on canvas in autumn 2025. Now it hangs in a gallery in Helsinki with his other arts. Honestly, it is the most beautiful and emotional album cover I have ever seen!
