I've been a Eurovision (ESС) fan for many years. (why do I like ESC if I primarily listen to metal/rock music? It’s another story…) And every time I fell in love with some ESC songs and singers. But in 2021 my life changed forever.
I didn’t use to watch National Selections for ESC but one day I found out that in UMK would perform a rock band. I remember very well that I watched the BC show with my mouth open and with goosebumps. It was f*ckin awesome, it was a big fire, it was very emotional!
Fun fact: my husband said me that we had listened to some songs of Blind Channel before, ~ in 2016-2017. And yes! When I had been listening to Revolutions I knew them! They were Unforgiven and Darker than black.
After UMK I wasn’t interested in BC, just waiting for ESC. But… once upon a time in April I wanted to watch BC official videos on Youtube - Left outside alone, Over my dead body, etc. I remember that they seemed quite heavy to me, (before 2021 I listened to spanish pop for many 10 years) but I liked them anyway.
Then I found the BC community in Russian social media that had existed for several years and started to discover more and more about the band and guys. First album which I listened to was Violent Pop, and I remember very well what I felt at that moment.
The song Gun seemed super heavy to me because it started with the cool scream of Niko. Frankly, I didn’t use to love rap and extreme vocals, but thanks to BC now I understand how awesome it is.
The first song that I was very touched by was Feel nothing. I didn’t understand what this song was about, but I understood the feeling with words I’m not sad, I feel nothing. Why I felt so much about this song I understood later.
In the end I liked Violent Pop. And Blood Brothers. And Revolutions. Then a magic happened - I found the translations of all BC songs and I was shocked. Lyrics are SO sincere and SO emotional… Many feelings, described in BC songs, I didn't feel before. For example, bullying, difficult breakups, toxic relationships, inner emotions. But I understood everything. It was amazing. At that moment I realized that these six guys are mine. Our inner worlds are the same.
One more thing that I was very touched by was the history of BC, their biography. Now I know my heroes.
Spring 2021 was the most emotional and fiery in my life. I felt a lot of different feelings, and many of them were new. I didn’t even know that such feelings existed in this world. At that moment I decided to get my first tattoo with the words from the song Timebomb: More than just alive. Now I have ten tattoos.
In autumn I had three tickets for the BC shows in Russia (Saint Petersburg, Moscow and a fest in the south) and I was the happiest person in the world. But you know what happened in February 2022… I died inside forever.
However a miracle happened this year. It was possible to go to Finland in the summer - borders opened for a few months after Covid. I understood that I would visit Knotfest in Turku. It should be noted that my journey to Finland was amazing. It’s another story too, but I fell in love with this country.
August 13 was an incredible day! Knotfest was my first festival in life and I saw BC for the first time (hope it wasn’t the last time…). I cried during the first song, not believing that I was seeing my boys. Then I thought that I would lose my voice because I never sang so loud. Pity that the show finished so fast…
Next 1.5 years (and now it continues) I was at home watching guys on social media and dreaming of the shows. I just wanna tell them what they mean to me and thank them for appearing in my life. At this moment I can say for sure that nobody has ever influenced my vision of the world and myself as much as Blind Channel.
What BC gave me:
Thanks to BC I understood myself and the world, started writing stories, drawing and creating something new.
