Counting Lifeboats is a Finnish duo formed by Niko Moilanen and Topi Kilpinen in high school in 2012.
In 2013, Niko became the vocalist of Blind Channel, and this band took up most of his time. But in 2015-2016 Counting Lifeboats released five songs: Transcontinental, An Exploding Man, Free, Follow The Car (with the lyric video), Cryosleep (with the music video)
In 2017, the band stopped their activities and removed most of their material from streaming services. However, this project wasn’t officially closed.
In 2019-2020, Counting Lifeboats started a new era and released another five songs: Everything Echoes, Count To Infinity, Kiss Me at Midnight, Heat, Find Me
Regarding my feelings about these tracks: these five songs (plus Cryosleep) are the most beautiful and meaningful songs I've ever heard. When I listen to them, they evoke inexplicable emotions that I experience nowhere else. I'm forever grateful to Niko for creating them.
But in 2021-2024, Niko didn’t have time for this project because of Blind Channel but in interviews he said that he would definitely return to Counting Lifeboats.
On March 30, the band posted a reel on their Instagram page with the song The Trains, The Planes, The Ships, and on April 2 Counting Lifeboats released Act 1: Soulétude — a full film album on their YouTube channel. On streaming services, the album was available on April 15
